I know this might seem miniscule to many of you, but I started on the body prep/paint process nearly 2 years ago, and color is just around the corner. In the past year, I retired from the AF, took a new job...then finally got a job I love. I'm in the process of moving from AZ to CA (for the new job), and I'm getting married this summer. So I've been a little busy and the project has been a little sidetracked.
The car is still in Tucson, with it's painter and should be done in the next 10 days or so. I'll be travelling a little for work, but hoping to trailer it out to CA in the next month or so...
Disclaimer...because the frame and suspension change track from stock slightly I had to measure wheel offset using a jig...I failed to consider how the tire bows out at max sidewall width, then curves back in towards the center. A pricey mistake, but I'm planning to re-order rear wheels with approx. 1/2-3/4" less backspace and switch to a 285/40 tire...currently 18x9.5 w/6.75 bs using a 275/40... The rest of the build has gone as planned...
Thanks guys, this was my first corvette project and my most extensive car project by far. I never would have guessed how much work goes into the alignment, gapping, repair and general prep on these bodies. I had the body skim coated then handed it over for a k2 prime, block, prime and now final block before paint. I'm just excited to see some more progress after so much time...
Thanks for the encourage guys! For anyone interested, I've started a fairly comprehensive photo log (chronological) of the build. Can be found in my profile.
