It was nice meeting all of you face to face in kissimmee. Thanks to all that wished me luck and stopped by to introduce yourselves. I have some work to do again, but look forward to meeting more of you at the national in kansas.
I spent the last few weeks working on my car. I cleaned 2 years of road grease off my chassis and engine from driving the car.
It is really hard to get a raw score of 97 percent. Out of a possible 4500 points, I could lose only 145 points. I lost 143. Being a basically unrestored survivor type car makes this even harder. My car was repainted and has new carpets, but beyond that is pretty much original and untouched.
I am fully undercoated, so lost 15 points or so because of that. I also have a cheap off brand soft top that was installed in 87 after my car was painted, so lost around 15 points because of the top. The rest of the deductions were mainly for the aging on my original components.
Hi Gary,
I'm sure you're VERY pleased!
Congratulations to YOU for making this happen.... the car didn't prep itself, or get itself there... YOU did!
Do you know the way to Kansas City? I hope so.
Regards,
Alan
Wow that's pretty amazing. I love to hear stories about people taking a car that hasn't been totally restored to a Top flight status. I think it gives some of us a little more push to have our cars judged..
A lot of work I'm sure but I'm sure it's all been worth it to you..
I think you car is beautiful with just the right patina. That undercoating can be removed its PITA but it can be done we've done it and I'll bet its like new underneath it. Your engine bay has most of its original parts but it still looks great IMO I would not change it .
