I plan on painting my 74 Atomic Orange but have the silver interior. Does the dye work for long term if I were to change to saddle? I think it would look better with the orange exterior.
Use SEM ColorCoat dye to recolor the interior from any color to any other color...no problem. I think light or medium saddle interior would look better with orange exterior, too.
Thanks for the input. i am in a quandary because the seats are perfect but can recover or try to find some Fiero seats like MrJlr. That looks saaaaweet and comfortable. Can I use the dye on the steering column or paint?

The SEM is amazing Clean every part you want to dye VERY clean and then use their SEM prep spray before you add the color. Light coats and build it up. Color changes are no problem. Buy more than you think you'll need. I had to reorder to get more
Paint the steering column. Satin I believe if I remember correctly
I got the seats for like $150 but the real leather was expensive. Around $800 from Mr Mike's. So brand new feeling, upgraded seats ran me around $1000.
But long drives are a pleasure now
Check out Alan71's interior and see how amazing stock seats can look when in new perfect condition! That's definitely an option too.
Vinyl dye is a special type of "paint", so you can use it on metal/hard surfaces, also. But, it may not last as long on exterior parts. For interior parts, there is no problem. I used SEM ColorCoat on my steering column; it has been done for about 5 years with no problems so far.
Buy SEM liquid dye and spray it on your parts. Get it mixed to your interior color code or to match a part; it can be found at almost any pro auto body paint supply store. If you don't have spray equipment, buy a $10 Pre-Val bottle sprayer and a few extra gas canisters along with a pint of SEM dye. That should do it.
Clean parts with detergent, then rinse ALL of the detergent off and allow to dry completely. You can use a prep coat if you want, but for original parts that have not been painted/dyed before, you shouldn't need it.
Six months ago I bought InvertedHorizons 81. It was originally a tow tone with saddle interior. He has a thread that completely goes over how he dyed the interior. Check it out, it's a class on DIY.
The interior looks great and I haven't had one single problem.

I used the SEM dye to go from red to black several years ago. Still looks great.
