Default 1968 Gage Bezel

My '68 gage bezel is broken and I was told that the a/c vent in the top was integral (one piece) with the bezel. My car has been Bubbaized through the years so I don't know if the one I have is correct. I do want to replace it with the correct one. Are they one piece or was I told a story? :

Hi TS,
The wiper switch and vents are separate parts, but the perimeter of the bezel surrounds them.
The bezels are VERY fragile and many are broken at the very narrow place on each side just above where the gauges mount.
Regards,
Alan

This is the point at which the bezels break…. is this where yours is broken?

There were two design's in 68... early and late... Both were smooth with no grain texture like the 69-76 style bezels.

Small Gauge bezel early did not have a Wiper Override Light On Rh Side. Late did.

Alan,

That's where it is broken on the opposite side.

It's the **** directly below the steering column between the two vacuum overrides.

Too Slow, mine as well as many others I am sure are broken in this same area. I made a very reasonable repair. I used JB Weld epoxy and two small pieces of brazing rod abount 1 inch long each. I applied the epoxy to the ends of the two pieces that were broke and used the brazing rod as reinforcement on the back side over lapping the effected areas. After curing, this has proved to be a excellent repair. It saved an original hard to find piece. Hope this helps.

The center cluster bezel is one year only 68 with the smooth finish. In addition, the factory AC vent at the top is also one year only 68.

UPC C60 Sheet A6 shows the vent and installation.

Well....that's not what mine looks like. It has two smaller side by side vents.

The smaller vents side by side are 69 and later. The 68 AC vent and bezel are one year only (ughhh).

Good luck!

Any chance you have a picture of the whole vent assembly?

Im confused. Maybe this will help Too Slow and me too.
I have a early 68, NO AC, birthday 10/04/67.

My bezel has 2 square holes on the left and 2 on the right.

Left:
The bottom hole has a button that says push. Where can I buy a replacement?
The top hole is empty. What exactly should be in there? Where can I buy this?

Right:
Bottom one is blocked off.
The top hole is empty. What exactly should be in there? Where can I buy this?

There is slot above the gauges and below the "CORVETTE" wording. What is this for? What mounts in here and what does it attach to? I do not have any of these parts. Where can I get them?

Do I have the right bezel?

Left top should have a lens saying (seatbelt) behind the lens is a lamp that is mounted in a circuit board of sorts. Seen below.

The top right should be the door ajar lens and yours being an early car, the bottom right should be blocked off. The wiper override wasn't added til later in the production year.

I believe Willcox can help you with these parts.

To further muddy the waters, I've read where a Low Fuel could show up in place of the Wiper Override, but I wonder whether any made it into production.

I found them! Looking for something else and it's then you find what you were looking for yesterday and couldn't find! AND mine says door ajar / low fuel! And my bezel is blocked off so only the door ajar would be visible.
Maybe when people restore they remove the blocked off part of the bezel to show the low fuel, or at the factory they removed the bezel and had low fuel exposed for a brief period until implementing the wiper override.
