I purchased 2 remote sport mirrors for my Vette. I need to paint them and I want to disassemble them for ease of painting. Has anyone on the forum taken them apart to paint the base and mirror housing without the mirror and remote assembly in the way? If so how did you do that? Thanks
I'm going to follow along on this thread. I did the same thing, disassembled the mirror housing from the base, but the cable is in the way. I was going to remove the cable too, however I can easily see that that would end up being a can of worms. Haven't painted yet.
Any reason why you cannt mask the mirror and then just paint the complete assembly?
It's not that hard to get the mirror out of the enclosure and dangling from the cable. At that point I bagged the mirror, left the cable attached, and sprayed.
ignatz did what I figure I'm going to have to do. Separate the base and mirror housing, and just let the cable and mirror dangle to paint. I think the whole assembly will look better if the two parts are painted apart from each other, just like factory.
