Where did your buy your trim rings? and what brand?
I bought a set from ecklers and they don't fit the valve stem.
I don't mind paying a little extra to get good ones.
And whats better the 4 clips or ones that "squeeze in" with tabs all the way around? going on original 15x8 rally wheels. 73
Thank you
Corvette Central's are ok as far as reproductions go. The original style four clip rings will cost you, even reproductions. They tend to be about $400 for a set it seems. The ones with the large "fingers" style clips (I think you mean these when you say squeeze-in) are substantially cheaper, like $100-$150.
Depends what you're after I suppose...driver or close to perfect, etc.
just looking for driver quality .
I did bend them around the valve stem to make them work for now but they also squeak at low speeds. so i cant return them. just going to buy new ones
The ones i bought were like $89 for the set
I have a couple of sets of original 4 clip and one set of the aftermarket multiclips. The multiclips are fine and I run them until I want to show off a set of the originals.

Mike,
Have you ever had to make any adjustments to the 4 clips to keep them from coming loose? I had to replace 2 of my original rings because they came off while driving. They seemed to be on good, but came off. This was years ago and I just put the two remaining up until my restoration and was lucky to find 2 original replacement rings so I now have 4 originals.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi Donnie,
If I may reply even though you asked Mike…
The installation and removal of the rings was critical enough that there was a Trim Ring card as part of the owner's packet.
It indicates that the removal should be done by placing the jack handle just to the SIDE of each clip and then prying or turning the handle.
Many people put the handle or a large screwdriver in the center of the clip… this pops the clip loose but also begins to deform it. Once the center prong on the clip is bent it can't seat properly or exert enough pressure on the rim to secure the trim ring.
If the lug wrench is placed on either of the 2 prongs on each side of the center prong the ring comes off, but you take the chance of breaking the prong. That's why you see trim rings with broken clips and the clips alone for sale.
Check the shape (configuration) of the prongs on the clips on the rings you're having a problem with.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for the reply Alan. I haven't had trouble snapping the rings on and have not pulled on the clips. The rings I lost were years ago and don't even know when they were lost. Maybe the rings were not snapped on good when I bought tires and I didn't check them myself. I am glad to know about the ring installation instructions. I haven't driven since placing the rings back on and just was curious if anyone else had lost rings. The snaps look to be in good shape. When I installed the rings this time, I used my hand and they seemed to snap on tight.
Thanks again Alan for your insight.
Thanks to you Mike for your reply and hope you don't lose a ring.
