Default 78 Plug wire removal

I have a 78 vette with original 350 V-8 and auto trans. I noticed that my #3 spark plug wire had come in contact with the exhaust and has the insulation burned. I went to change this wire but was unable to get it off due to the fact that it appears that it is directed through a gap in the engine mount. Does anyone know anything about this? Is there a way to get it removed and a new one installed without removing the through bolt on the mount? If so is there a procedure anywhere regarding this? As usual any help is most appreciated.

Bob

The stock wire routing is through the motor mount for the two front wires. Remove the plug end boot to get the wire through the gap. WD-40 works well to get the boot off and back on. mike...

I did this years ago on my 79, I had to remove the boot from the end of the new wire, by slipping it off, fish the wire through, then reinstall the boot with some dielectric grease. its difficult, but can be done...

That's why I'm sending mine to my regular mechanic to be put on the lift. Even though he's a Ford man (he and brothers had the fastest ,Fords around but, he's still just a hot rod guy) He has plans for the 79. Plugs, wires, Pertronix adjustable ignition, and tweak to the Q-jet.
