When I bought my 76 it came with 79 seats. Honestly I like the way they sit and they are very comfortable. I will be refreshing them with new foam and covers. My vette is very modified in many ways but I just haven't seen any seats that I like in a C3 except for the C3 seats. Everyone has a preference and I respect that, this is just what my personal thoughts are.

Very good point Mark! I changed ours because the pace car seats and my wife did not get along, plus I got a great deal on the C5 seats. I personally like the pace car seats also. But the wifey lets me spend what ever I want on the cars so I try to appease her when she asks

My seats in my 72 were not comfortable at all, my first drive in it was 5 hours home and I knew by the time I got home that I needed to replace them. Then I looked at prices for recovering c3 seats, and it was cheaper to buy c6 seats that are 10x more comfortable than to redo my existing seats. Was a no brainer for me then, seat height was the only negligible issue with my height. If the c3 seats only cost $200 to fix, I would have fixed them, but not for the $500 to $1k it can cost for foam and covers.

THere is a thread on the Forum about a guy putting 2005-07 Mustang seats in his C-3. Almost a direct bolt in if I recall. And about $500 range, really comfortable looking and that's the way I plan on going when I get that far! Check it out.

How about some details on your C6 seat install. I'm getting ready to do some C7 seats and I need to know every trick available.

CWerner,
My neighbor has a mill and lathe in his shop, so all my parts were designed and made by him. My bad, never took photos before install so hard to show his work. I can tell you the rear bolts were almost impossible to get in due to tight quarters. They are almost too high for people around six foot. At the strip, my helmet will rub the T-tops unless I leave the inner liners out. We did modify the C6 original brackets to go along with our attaching hardware. Wish I had taken photos but too late now. Hope we never need to take those suckers out !!!

1979-82 seats in my '77. At 6'4" I too cut the drivers side floorboard as far as it would go (touches the frame).

That's a great solution for you tall fellas. Makes a lot of sense and very subtle to the untrained eye.

I'm keeping this thread in mind as I really need to upgrade the seats in my old mule. My current set of originals are worn out enough that my fat behind is all the padding that I have left!

What did you do about the lap belt retractor pocket though?

The floor was cut about 2" up the sides and a patch panel was welded all the way around.

Thank you for your reply. So you lowered the pocket with the pan? Did you do this work with body on the frame?

I have a 2003 Celica. The seats (cloth) are very comfortable, not bad looking either. I think if I ever switch my Vette seats out, I will go with these, no more leather either, too hot on the legs and quite embarrassing when you get up and leave a puddle of sweat on the seat!
Leather is overrated.

Would like to see pics of the Celica seats in the Vette.

After measuring and much deliberation, I have found that the seats in my wifes Saturn Sky are the same width and depth as the stock C3 seats. I will be "trying" one this weekend to check the fit.

thanks to all that responded I will continue to subscribe and update.
