I have been searching the FAQ out of this subject and still cannot find a full thread devoted to the subject.
I am (finally) redoing the interior of my 76. I would like a more comfortable seat but realize there are not a lot of options on these cars.
Please post up pics of the custom / aftermarket seats that you have used in your C3 build.
I have everything but foam to redo the originals. I have access to C5 seats but they need recovered. I have also seen the fiero option but they seem as pricey as C5 seats.
vendor info...part number..price..installation info is all appreciated.
I went with C4 seats. The C5 seat are outrageous in price, and the one example I found on Fiero seats the guy must have thought they came from a Ferrari. With seats and seat covers, I'm in for under 500 bucks.

Did you have to modify the seat brackets? I will be making this mod this year.
[years back I went with the fiero seats and do not regret it. Most of these seats are about 50.00 a set used at a local junkyard, then you order the from Mr. Mikes. He even includes a video. It was an all day job counting everyting but the comfort and fit are priceless and they look like they fit in the car not like a c5 seat. Just do a search on this forum using keyword FIERO and you will understand.

The seat tracks on C4 seats are useless in a C3. I used the seat rails from the original C3 seats and build a few offsets to secure them to the C4 seats. If your over 6 foot tall, this isn't for you. I'm about 5'8", and it's perfect. Had I welded instead of building a bolt in solution, I could have dropped the seat about another inch.

Btw, I didn't mention before, I reused the seat tracks from my 72 seats. I drilled holes in the bottom of my c6 seats from a template and attached the tracks. Height is higher than stock but not too bad, I'm 6'4" and still fit (barely). Seats can move back and forth still, lean back, lean forward, etc.
Do the Fiero seats give you more leg room (as in length?)
Do the Fiero seats result in more leg and head room??
vetfever
the way I installed mine they do take away headroom, probably a good 2" or so, the leg room? not sure since I'm only 5'6" so neither headroom nor leg room was a concern but if I had to guess on the leg room I'd say it's close to the same.
Ok I know my approach was radical but I stand 6'3" and I need the head room. Soooooooo I cut the floor pans out of my 79 and lowered them almost an 1 1/4" in the back and 3/4" in the front. Then I modified the seat bases of a set of C5 sport seats to lower them all that I could. Here is a couple of pics of the floor pan after mod and of the seat bases after mod and then of the drivers seat installed.
new pan welded in
after coating with spray on undercoat
modded seat base on the left
Pic with driver seat installed. Notice the relative seat height to the console.
I guess that's one way to do it, lower the floor, it's certainly easier then raising the roof
Actually 'raising the roof' is technically easier if all you're concerned with is headroom...just get the glass roofs instead of the solid ones and you've bought yourself an inch.
