New member,
While driving with my family in the local area, searching for homes for sale(outgrew our current one) came across a house with an old corvette sitting in the field. My oldest son, who was seventeen at the time, comments on the car. Thinking nothing of it, my family continues on our quest. We arrive home later that day, and my son again comments on the car, saying he would love to have something like that some day. I advise him to go back out and ask if they would be interested in selling, telling him the worst that could happen, they say, No. He goes back out and to make a long story short, an ederly woman gives him the car, yes gives him the car! A 1974 Corvette Stingray, White with Black interior, all original. The car has been sitting for about 15 years. Need to pull the engine, siezed up bad, someone pulled the spark plugs and rust has entered the engine. My son is one his way to the military, and has given the car to my wife and I, love that kid, but need to start working on it. Any help would be great, it's an auto, 350. Like I said all original, and all there. Pull motor and tranny together? Can't turn engine for nothing!
"A free Corvette is the most expensive car you can own"
I have had my 78 for 27 years. There have been times if someone had walked up and asked if it was for sale, I would have just handed them the keys. I am sure you have checked out the frame and birdcage before starting on this project. A project like this will be frustrating and expensive .... but very very rewarding when you are finished and can drive and show it. Good Luck
Do you have title to the car? If it is not legally in your son's name, or yours, my advice would be to wait until it belongs to your family before getting too far along in the project.

It can be a heartbreaking mess, who knows whose name the title is in,
dead people with cars in their names are hard to force the state to give you the car for free just because you say some lady gave it to you...I am way ahead of the game, perhaps you have a clear title in your name
