Default Hood corner adjustment?

My hood corners on my 82 sit slightly up compared to the fenders and last year I adjusted the hood strikers and had to bend them a little to get the corners down but have noticed they are creeping back up again. Is this due to opeing and shutting? Is there a better way on adjusting these?

Are there shims under the latches on the hood? Removing a shim will close the hood down a little tighter.

Last time I adjusted it I removed all the shims except 1 for each side just so when I attached the bolts it would evenly distrubute the torque. Can I remove the last one and be ok? When the hood is closed I can push down where the lastch is maybe a 1/4" which would bring in my alignment but there are no up and down adjustment on the latch for what I can see.

My 79 is high on the back corners, I figured it's the nature of the beast.

Same deal with my '81 on the passenger side where the hood meets the windshield. It sticks up about 3/8 of an inch. Ive seen many other late C3's with this issue so im guessing its a pretty common occurance on these cars. It gives it some character I guess...
