Hi, I've been wondering on my 76 there is no alarm key cylinder on the driver side fender. Was this an option? Or is it possible the fender has been changed.
Oh thats what i thought…. I don't see any visible signs of possible front end damage. I bought this car appox. a year ago and have been going thru it. I have new engine being installed now along with transmission. I went thru all the electrical and all the suspension/brakes. Found out the engine that was in it wasn't the original as I was told it was. I should have done more homework on this car. The deal I got I don't think was worth it in the end. It comes to the point "In for a pound in for a penny" well when I finally finish this project (this spring) it will truly be my car. There was a point during this build I thought maybe I should stop and get a different vette., but I couldn't bring myself to do that to this car being my first corvette. I figure hopefully I can get another, I really want a 69 so with the tin mind I can find one original and have this car to play with as far as no longer stock. I have defiantly learned a lot from this experience. Thanks for the information...
Can't blame you wanting a '69. It's always been my favorite C3 year. But way back in '76 I was able to afford a new one so that's what I did.......
Hey Thanks Again… Follow up question: Is the alarm sounding from the horns or there a different alarm? I'm going to see if i can find wiring from the old system.

It had it's own horn, and if I remember right it's tucked up back in the left rear. Look for two wires, one red & one orange with lugs on their ends that went to the switch.........
Hey man........just looked at your pics. Looks like we have twins!

Funny... I was thinking the same thing when I looked at yours. I can't wait till spring and get this thing on the road. Since I've had it I've driven it about 30 miles in total. It should be close to new when completed, But my pocket book sure hurts, my debit card is still smoking. Thanks again for the info.

One thing I can tell you about getting your Vette out for the first time of the year: IT NEVER GETS OLD!! Even after 37 winters I was dying to get mine out today for it's first run. 65 degrees, sunny, wind blowing like hell but it always is around here. But there's still too much gravel & salt & crap on the roads to make it any fun. Need a good rain....
My 76 had the hole in the fender filled in with bondo!!! there are a few componennte missing and I found a short in one of the door switches. Makes no sense to fill it in. Could have just unplugged it.
