82 Shifter mod question.
Has anyone with a 82 performed the shifter detent modification? That's where you grind about 3/16" on the detent so you can put the tranny in 1st? There is a member on here that posted the pictures of before and after which I saved so I could do it later on. Well tonight was the "later on". But my question is that the neutral safety switch is inhibiting it to bring it all the way back so do I need to change out the switch to a newer one? I looked for that post for more details but had no luck. I can move the shifter about the 3/16" but don't know if that's enough to drop it into 1st?
