for that style you'd be better off just putting the EGR valve on.
I think you might be right.
Used some .130/eighth inch aluminum plate, with cork & exhaust sheet gasket, for fabrication. Bent the hole tab a bit more than the block angle for a tight seal.
I bought this car for a HUGE reason; NO FU*#ING CALIFORNIA SMOG CHECKS. I DON'T WANT ANYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH SMOG CONTROL ON THIS CAR! 20 years living in this Socialist state does this to people.
I didn't say you had to make it functional, just plug the hole with it. I hope your blockoff plate is nice and tight. ANY leaks and your car is going to run like crap.
