1982 Collector Edition --> Export (Canada) Version

Hi,

I bought a 1982 Collector Edition that is a Export Version with metric gauges. The previous owner said it is a Canada Version....

I was wondering if anybody knows how many Export Models were build back in 1982

...is it a very rare car???

Corvettes, and most of cars, built specifically for export, usually got speedometers calibrated in kilometers instead of MPH.

80-82 Corvettes built for export, and ordered using either RPO code Z49 (Mandatory Canadian Base Equipment), or V97 (European Export Preparation), came with a speedometer measured in kilometers, in place of the MPH/kilometer speedometer used in US models.

I just never saw much "effort" placed in export vettes

The reason that cars here and in the US have dual scale speedometers is part of a bilateral agreement so we can 'safely' drive our cars in each other's countries.

Mike's lead to GM Canada is an excellent one. Years ago I got this info from them for my (former) 1979. Just to emphasize, however, they only have that info for vehicles imported to Canada.
