Hi can anyone tell and show me how the 1970 egg crate grill on the lower fenders should be finished off? I think just the horizontal lines are down to the chrome what about the chrome that outlines the whole grill? A good picture would be appreciated, thank you.
Hi Bp,
I believe you described the 70 side grill correctly.
It doesn't even have the raised vertical surfaces that have the chrome edge exposed on the 71-72 grills. That's what makes the 70 side grills somewhat rare.
So the perimeter 'track' on 3 sides of the grill, top, front, and bottom, is exposed, along with the horizontal lines.
Regards,
Alan

Alan you are correct. 71&72 had the chrome vertical lines.
If you have the correct grills for 1970. The chrome exposed edges that you described are the only raised edges found on a 1970 grill. It's been said per NCRS that Cortez Silver cars possibly had painted grills with no chrome edges. I went that route with my 1970 Cortez Silver car. Of coarse I wasn't satisfied with the look of an all painted grill so I did a second set with exposed chrome edges no wonder my car still isn't done.
