4500.00 would have been fair for that car knowing what I know about it and then perhaps less depending on wear etc.
Surprisingly, they get a lot more money for these 80-82 Corvettes than you would think. 50-75% premium over a '78, easy. Some people liked the rubber bumper cars, and these are the best looking of the bunch without the dorky bumper-car bumpers. $20k was ridiculous, but $10k might not have been. That really shocked me when I looked it up on good ol' eBay. Yellow one in Atlanta might have some decent upside potential on eBay if the seats aren't shot under the covers. If I was shopping for that year, and the car is as nice as it looks, I might put it on a carrier and get it.

Here is a 75 that might be a little overpriced: /tulsa.craigslist.org/cto/4400747154.html

Even completed auctions are not proof that cash changed hands.
I am not talking pristine NCRS dream cars or cars that are restored like new, ( perhaps some of them do fetch 20K ) I am talking about that original car that hasnt had much replaced yet or molested, even years wear things out.
I still am not convinced that an 80-82 with enough miles to need wear items all replaced, tired interior, worn weather strips, little things like locks, windows ac etc do not work, a driver in need of repairs will fetch the tall dollars.

Here is an example that "IF" we believe the seller and the presentation this car might be what he says and would be pretty darn pristine and it's listed at just over 10K but we do not know it's miles,

Now here is one that is like I was talking about, needs lots of attention
http://spacecoast.craigslist.org/cto/4349745223.html
The seller says "make offer and this is what I see sell for 3500-4000K

and here is another poor cheap 82 this car will never fetch what he wants for it,
