Our state requires 2 plates on the car but I can't seem to see where the front one would attach. Does anyone have a picture you could post of a '69 with a front plate in place?
Also, the back plate surround, should it be black or chrome on the '69?
Hi 69,
All 69 cars came with a bracket for a front plate.
They often disappeared on cars that were registered in states requiring only one plate.
The rear bezel that the rear plate is surrounded by is chrome plated.
2 stainless steel license plate frames came with each car.
Regards,
Alan
This happens to be a 71.
The bracket mounts to the large center bumper bracket with 1 bolt and nut each side.
Wasn't there a bracket?
I really hate front plates, it ruined the 80-82 front end,
Nope, no bracket on the front. I don't care for them either, especially on cars that ride low. We got stopped in our '05 SSR because we didn't have the front plate installed yet, it was in the back and we were on the way to the dealership to have it put on so the officer actually followed us to the dealership to be sure that's where we were going. I guess he didn't have anything better to do.
...it does have a rear bracket so we're good there...
All cars have the rear attachment since all states require a rear plate. 68-74 C3s going to states requiring a front plate got the front bracket shipped with the car to be installed by the dealer.
