There was a white sticker installed on the rear drivers side door frame that contained the VIN. Usually missing if car was repainted. http://www.vetteweb.com/features/vem.../photo_02.html

The VIN is stamped into the frame in two places.
One stamping is on the top side of the frame rail under the drivers side door. You will not be able to see it unless the body is pulled off.
The second stamping is on the top side of the frame rail near the drivers side rear wheel. Sometimes you can pull the wheel off, clean the top of the frame and see it. Other times you can't, it was a light stamping and the frames rust.

There is a trim tag on the drivers side A-pillar, just above the door hinges, but it does not contain the VIN.
