Default Im new to posting

I just figured out the other day how to post a thread, Im not to good with computers. I just started clicking on things and it came up, and worked. That was a big surprise to me. I have been reader on here for about a year or so.

I bought my vette. two years ago come May the 5th this year. The car is a 76 with L82 with a 4 speed transmission. The car is a dark green with dark brown interior, the car was born dark brown metallic according to trim tag. The PO owners changed the color. The owner I bought it from thought it was born green. He said he checked the VIN#. I could not change his mind that the VIN# did not tell what color the car came from the factory. I just let go because he was super nice guy, and I did not want him to feel bad.

I have a lot of work to do on the rear end, with replacing bushing throughout, shocks, brakes and wheel bearings. The interior is in pretty good shape, except for some of the dash, gauges need repair. The front end needs all new bushing, ball joints tie rods ends. At the same time I will have wheel bearings, and springs replaced, if need be. The problem is I have the time because I retired in January, but with bad knees it hard getting up after getting down. I talked to I believe, Van Steel at the corvette show in Orlando, among others.
One other person I talked to was Corvette Generation in Dade City Fl, they restore cars they have themselves. They have some four hundred c3 & c4 bodies in stock, plus thirteen semi trailers full of parts. I feel bad when people are looking for parts and I could not reply, because not knowing how to post until now.
They have a lot hard parts, but when I asked about door panels he said most are as old as mine. At the corvette show he said they might be able to restore the suspension on my car, if I was not in a big hurry.

I use my car for local car shows and cruise on weekends or during the week since I retired. The paint job looks good, and the interior is not to bad to look at, except for a Bubba job on adding a peace of junk radio.
When someone looks in side I tell them I did not install it, and are going to get a 76 radio from Corvette Generation to replace.

I have read alot of problems and solutions on the forum, which has been a big help to me when I had
a problem with vacuum on the head lights.

thanks all Larry

You won't see too many 74's, 75's or 76's in the Dark Metallic Brown. It just wasn't a popular color back then, so there are very few out there. I've personally seen just a couple in the decades of spotting cars. Dark Green is pretty scarce too, so even if you're not ready to paint it back to what it was, it's still pretty rare.

Hi Larry,

Also a '76 owner, and I just moved to Florida a few months ago. I'm in the LOL/Lutz area. I think Lakeland is maybe 45-60 minutes away or something like that? Still don't know my way around much, but maybe we will run into each other at some point.

I had a couple people tell me about a nice car show in Dade City. I was at the one in St. Pete this past Sunday, but it wasn't what I expected. It was mostly Ferraris and the like. A lot of modern cars. A handful of C6s and C7s, one nice '54 and a '73. But not a whole lot in the way of old or classic cars. I'd like to check out the one in Dade City one of these days.

The guys/gals at this forum are very helpful and have pointed me in the right direction on more than one occasion. And there was a member here (not sure if he still posts, his username is Chuck Gongloff I believe) that was kind enough to invite me to his house and educate me on what to look for in a C3 back when I lived in Baltimore.

If you get stuck, this might be the best resource in the web.

Glad to have another '76 owner around.

Thanks Jerry for the post, you are right about all the information you can get here.
I have read alot of post here about vacuum system, when I had a problem with my headlights. It was hard to understand how the system work, but after reading post now it is pretty easy to see how it works.

Welcome to Florida,I hope you like it here weather wise. It could alot worse like up north. I moved here from Texas fifteen years ago, and love it.

As for car shows go they have a real nice one every 3rd Saturday of the month in downtown Plant City. There about two hundred car show up for it. It is a open car show. Here in Lakeland in I believe in October we have a show called Lake Mirror Classic, with about five hundred cars. All of downtown streets and around the lake is blocked off.It is a real nice show. You can pull it up on the net.
Hope we will run in to each other some. Good talking to you.....Larry

Hi Larry and Welcome to the C3 side of the forum.

From your statement, you will find that posting and adding pictures is no big deal, once you practice a little. Guess what? You're already doing that.

Hope that you can enjoy your new-to-you '76 clutch-car and let's see some pictures soon. We love to see project cars and their status on any given day.

Good luck. Chat with you as things come up...
