The taste is bitter sweet, the color had a slight yellow tint
That sounds like antifreeze. It's color is yellowish now because it is diluted quite a bit by adding water to it.

It is pointing almost in the red on the passenger side, the 18. Would that mean that the alternator is over charging my battery?
That would be correct. It is overcharging the battery. On the connections on the back of the the plug it has two wires in it. One is of a small diameter compared to the other. This is the sense wire. It is the feedback to the voltage regulator telling it when the battery is fully charged. If that smaller wire has a break in it or is not making a good connection then you'll get what your seeing. So give it a check to see what you can see. There are other reasons to get overcharging but this is one that you can check.

The battery can tolerate overcharging for short periods of time 30 min or so but will lead to a sulfuric smell in your car as it overheats the acid in the battery and starts boiling it off. So that needs to be fixed.
It's not a good thing to be cooking the battery, especially since it's riding in the same compartment as you are.

Look and see if you see a stain on the side of the rad below the cap just to make sure its not leaking from the cap or the overflow tube. Kinda sound like you said its leaking when you run it and after but doesnt leak while sitting.

Alternator overcharging is not good. I myself wouldnt drive it, if this is true. There are more things that can burn up. and batteries have been know to explode from this.

When I left the house, the battery guage read, overcharging. The battery light was dim and stayed dim, didn't alter at all, no flickering or anything. About half way there I turned on the A/C, when I did that, the guage went to the middle, but the battery light didn't go off. It did get dimer, but never went totally off. If I turned the A/C off it would read, overcharging. So I just kept the A/C on.
Before I headed back home, I checked on my leak. I was parked there for a couple hours. It did leak some but it's hard to say how much. The parking lot was very rough asphalt.
I kept a close watch on my guages. Everything seemed fine, though the battery light never went off.
I came straight home and parked it in the garage. After about an hour I went out to check on the leak. There wasn't a lot of fluid on the concrete, maybe the size of ur fist. I got my white cloth and sopped up as much as I could and went outside to look at it this time, away from those fluorescent lights and yes, it was that line green color.
Then I checked the connection like you told me to. I followed the wires as far as I could, then those two wires went into this plastic tubing and I couldn't see if there was any damage on it from there on.
Good news is that I leave in the morning to go on a week long fishing trip with my son. I won't be driving my car 😔 because I have to pull the boat. So hopefully my mechanic will be recovered and back at work by the time I return. Than I can bring it to him and let him fix what need be, and while it's there I'll have my side pipes put on. I can't wait to get that done.
When he tells me what he's found I will let you know. You brought me this far. There has to be closure.
I really enjoyed learning from you. Thanks again for everything

Glad to help. That would be great to let us know what happened.
There is always something on these cars I'm sure we'll be hearing more.
I have Hooker side pipes and love the sound they make and the look as well. You can see them in my avatar. You know which inserts your going with?

Happy fishing.

The fishing trip was great!!!! I love fishing trips with my son. We always have so much fun together. We both love to fish, we are on the water when the sun comes up and we don't go in till the sun goes down. The marsh is a very beautiful and peaceful place.
I dropped my car off Monday morning to have my Hookers up on and also to check out the leak and why my battery light is staying on. I did replace the battery last week but the battery light still stayed on. It's suppose to be ready tomorrow. I guess then I'll get some answers.
Not sure what inserts are. All I know is I ordered what my mechanic told me to order. I got Hooker headers, side pipes, and muffler/glass pack. I also got exhaust shields from steel shield with corvette written in script on them.

It took my mechanic all week to get my pipes on. I picked up my car on Friday, and they look so good. They weren't as loud as I thought they would be. I was told that if I have the baffles removed that it will increase the sound significantly. I am dropping my car off again in the morning so that he can tighten the bolts and he still has to fix the leak in my radiator. He said that my radiator is fairly new but that when they installed it they didn't put the pads under it and so it was metal on metal and that's what caused the small hole in my radiator. He also has to find out why the battery light stays on. When it rains it pours, now the driver side window won't go down and since I picked up my car Friday my AC is blowing only hot air. I hope all these things don't take too long to fix. I live in Destin Florida during the summer and I want my car in perfect working order for the trip. I don't have a mechanic I trust there.

Nothing money and time can't fix. Basically when you buy a unrestored vintage car , nearly everything has to be repaired or replaced to get it to the point of trusted reliability . There are scores of gaskets, seals , other items 98 % of previous owners never tended to. It's really their fault , being cheap and lazy , not the cars.

We are spoiled today with cars that need less attention and tell us what is wrong when they are sick.

Stick with it . Eventually you ll become familiar with all the components and their condition and your confidence level will go up when you know your car is up to snuff.

Actually I feel very blessed, my car was in great condition when I got it a year and a half ago. I haven't had a lot of trouble with it. I ve had more trouble with mechanics then with the car. Now I feel that I have found the right mechanic. He understands the relationship, and He is always willing to go the extra mile.
You are so right about being spoiled by the cars today. My daughter told me that her car tells her if she has a low tire and emails her reminders of service needs. I said to her, "you know how I know when I have a low tire? I get out and look". I have a truck with all that fancy stuff too but it doesn't matter. I drive my car all the time.
I'll never give up on my car. I don't care how much time or money it takes. Who ever said " you can't buy happiness", never sat behind the wheel of a C3.
