Great looking vette. Would definately look at replacing the ujoints and the tranny real seal. Question though. The hood looks like it has a "454" emblem but the engine is a small block. Maybe I missed something in your write-up.
Welcome! Always good to see another 73 on here. Looks like a good one too. Make sure that you fill out your profile. You never know when someone knowledgable may be nearby.
I enjoyed your write up. You are correct. Rotation of the earth does cause the side mirrors to move though that's admittedly hard to prove.

Maybe more intelligent but a lot less fun. A lot less cool too! What would your kids have thought as your new toy rolled off the back of the truck instead of rumbling up the driveway?

Glad to know I was not the only one with a silly grin on my face when I got my 73 but mine had to be trailered. Will follow your progress with great instrest
Looks like a great car to start with, and you are obviously enthusiastic about it.
Welcome to the 73 Owners club. 73 is one of my favorite years, and I used to own a nice 73 convertible.
My days of crawling around old cars are over (my doctor said so), so I just purchased a 2004 convertible with 18K miles on it. Car was in Pennsylvania, and I am in north Alabama.
I thought about driving the car home (roughly 700 miles) but the deciding factor in me having the car trailered instead was the fact that the car had the original tires on it. Plenty of tread left, but they were 10 years old.
That is not a chance I was willing to take.
I strongly advise people not to drive on aging tires, especially if it is any significant distance.
Two better alternatives would have been to purchase and have tires installed in the sellers area, or take a good set of wheels and tires with you and swap them before making the trip back.
You were lucky; the consequences could have been MUCH worse.
I drove my first 73 home a little over two years ago, and I had white knuckles all the way home. I kept looking at my temp and oil pressure over and over...
