If not, hopefully you will. Class act and I hope he happens to be at the chapter event when I go. Maybe there will be a blizzard where he lives and he will want to get away and judge at a chapter meet?
I am confident he won't put this stamp on my car when he has to check the Vin Pillar and trim tag.
I don't have a problem with folks who embellish a bit when they put their cars up for sale. It sort of goes with the territory and it's probably safe to say that we are all proud of our cars and when/if the time comes to sell. We all want to get as much money as we can for them.
However...
When you post a VERY high profile car for sale on a VERY public forum like ebay, you're going to invite critique... Especially if you go on and on about how pristine, how original, and what a great investment the car is. You do that, and the car better be darn good. It isn't. The pad photo is very poor, but even so, it is still obvious that it is a very bad restamp... Not to mention another glaring issue that I'm not going to get into on this forum. In all likelihood it never started life as an LS-6 and that goes way beyond nitpicking.
As a nice Corvette, there's nothing wrong with the car itself, it's just not what the owner is advertising it to be Pete... And what it is supposed to be is what justifies the price they are looking for.

Hi Stan,
I suppose my tone was indeed lost in my above post.

Wow! I picked up on something when I saw this car and I only have 6 judging points!
Find me that 1100543 and maybe I will pay for shipping for the alternator AND you to deliver it to me and get you out of that white dandruff they call snow!!!!!!!!!
Sorry Pete... I obviously missed that. It's awfully tough to tell on the internet sometimes.
The Browns reference was darn funny though!

Stan
It was the "toetap" guy that tanked my sarcasm wasn't it? But, I guess we got your full, honest opinion out of it. Sorry for the mix-up.
I did think the ROFL smiley turning to a Cleveland Browns helmet was pretty ironic. It seems to be fixed now. Who knows, maybe the jester smiley will turn into Roger Goodell?
This is the type of gang stamp used to stamp the vin derivative on the engine pad. I don't think there is any chance at all that the stamp on that pad used one of these - the alignment is way too far off.
Sorry Pete... I obviously missed that. It's awfully tough to tell on the internet sometimes.

That is what I hate about forums like this. You do not know the tone of the post is usually as it is typed out. It helps if you know the personal in real life real well and can USUALLY tell when they are joking or not.
That toe tapping to me didn't sound like a joke either. My interpretation was "here we go again, we got a ncrs judge coming in here pounding his chest again so everyone go "
Fortunately, that is NOT what Pete was saying at all. Gosh the internet can play stupid tricks. That is how forum wars get started.
What was the reason you didn't buy it? Even if it was a complete rust bucket falling apart, as long as it had the engine, trans and rear. It would have been worth buying for sure. Just the ignition would paid for the car if you parted it out.
If you ever run accross a car like that and didn't want it, Please post it on here, one of your CF brothers would love to have a car like that.
This was back at a time when a big block Corvette was not the most desirable car on the planet, especially for a poor college student. I'm pushing 60 now, so do the math. Still, it was a beast to drive and probably the most brutally powerful car I have ever driven. Finding gas for it at the time was problematic as well.
The car came from Florida, stayed in northwest NC for several years, and now I have no idea where it is.
Warren, there is a another LS6 on ebay right now with not many details, but ad says it being used this weekend here in NJ for a NCRS judging class and is in the LS6 survey. Is the blue vert in the LS6 survey ?
Jerry,
The blue convertible is not a factory produced Corvette ordered with the LS6 engine option.
Jerry,
Can't tell without more information on the other car, but I may have it on the registry. Most of the information posted on the eBay listing is correct in its context. The number of 1971 LS6 optioned Corvettes in the survey is considerably higher than what these individuals keep quoting.
….honestly I really dislike Barrett Jackson. You can find nice cars there..sure. You can find some really rare cars…of course. But can one really find a "deal" there? I think not, people over pay all of the time and it annoys me when I go to look at cars and the car in question is no where near the level of nice at the BJ's auctions yet the seller is wanting virtually what one of those cars "sells" for on BJ. I flew up to Branson, Missouri 2-3 years ago to look at a red '59 with both tops, 283 w/2x4, 4 speed. It belonged to an old ladies husband who had died and he left it on the side of their house. Well over time it sunk in the ground at least 6 inches and I saw it in like 2-3 degree weather when a foot or two of snow on the ground. She wanted around $30K for this car, which was in sad sad shape. I offered her $18K and tried to get her to realize the car is cool but it is nothing like the ones on BJ, and I can find drivers for $40K. Why would anyone buy the '59 for $30K and then have to put $30K into it to make it nice again when you could just buy a driver '58-'62 for $40K and spend less money and time to get the same car? Long story short this lady was hard headed and she was stuck on the "oh well the cars on BJ for for a ton of money. Mine is worth a lot too!" so I walked away. Chances are that '59 is still sitting there rotting away. The car needed EVERYTHING. The frame had rot everywhere, the 283 was in pieces, the body was going to need countless hours in the body shop, the interior had been destroyed by rats, and it was just an overall nightmare. However it is a '59 …but I lost the car due to BJ. So this is just one example of that, I have more….sadly. Anyways I seriously don't appreciate BJ. Maybe you guys might, but I don't. How do you guys feel about BJ?
…oh and I will dig up the photos if the car and post them.
