Just got a hose clamp kit for my 68 390hp 427 as well as all new hoses. The kit I got has the wire/squeeze type clamps for the heater hoses but the car now has tower style clamps on the water pump and worm type(obviously wrong) on the heater core. I appears to have all the factory hoses on it and I was wondering if the squeeze type are correct of if I need to get the tower style.
BTW it a mid Jan build date and yes, I i know the AIM will tell me this but mine hasnt arrived yet.
68 was about the last year, to use the spring clamps.
I have a 68 AIM at the shop, but I won't be in until around noon. I'll take a look when I get in. Do you have air conditioning, because in some years it effects the clamps used?
On a 427 car, I think two of the spring clamps, go on the water pump by-pass hose.
If you are concerned with originality to the point of correct hose fittings, you may want to consider purchasing a copy of the NCRS Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide for 68-69. http://www.ncrs.org/shop/index.php?m...roducts_id=217
Hi,
The 68-69 TIM&JG indicates that the heater hoses used tower clamps in 68.
Since the wire clamp was still used in 67 I GUESS it would be POSSIBLE to see a early 68 car with wire clamps.
Regards,
Alan
