Rear leaf spring bolt question?

Default Rear leaf spring bolt question?

A couple of years ago I had to replave my damaged fiberglass spring with a new one, well I used new original style bolts that had the hole going through for a cotter pin. Well I thought the back sat up to high so just recently I bought the longer bolts with poly bushings and now I have it sitting mostly level but the longer bolts does not have the hole provision for a cotter pin. Is that ok? It came with lock nuts and have been driving the car that way now with no problems but just wondering if that's fine. I only have a couple of threads sticking out of the locknut.

The lock nut should work fine.

I have seen a vette where the lock nut came off so on mine I have the lock nut and then added a 2nd nut to lock it down.

If you can afford 50 whole cents for the peace of mind, add the jam nuts to the bolts and rock on.

Use a big set of pliers or a couple of hammers and mash the threads that are exposed.

Yes, staking the threads would have the same effect but new hardware will be necessary in the future. Not expensive....
