Default 3 Questions...

1st Q: Should the male hood latch assy be painted or natural?

2nd Q: It looks like I only need a slight shimming on my carb to get it to set clear and level on the manifold. Two gaskets would do it. Has anyone ever doubled up these gaskets?

3rd Q: How in the HECK do you get that foam air cleaner with the metal screen up into the L88 air box? I really don't want to force it but it's like putting 5 pounds of coffee in a 1 pound can.

Hi 68,
I'll take the first one:
The male hood latch and it's fasteners (?) were originally manganese phosphate plated.
That's a very dark gray with a bit of sparkle in it.
You can do the plating, get someone else to do it, or paint it with Eastwood's Phosphate paint.
Regards,
Alan

Factory install for a 69 bb quadrajet (I assume 350 as well) uses a base gasket under a metal heat shield with another gasket on the top, so I don't see anything wrong with using two gaskets as long as you check for leaks
