Default Pull small block with 4 post lift

Has anyone used their 4 post lift to pull an engine? Can I use the jack rail that I purchased with the lift?

What are you asking exactly? I must be missing something. You mean standard way?

Last year i tried to pull the engine out of my 1970 lt1 and it was not high enough to allow me to remove the engine.

Why not put the whole car up on the lift...at full height....then shackle the engine to a rafter, loosen the bolts and just lower the car!??

Oh, wait.... Then you have to figure out how to get the engine off the ceiling....

I have a 4-post lift and I am not planning to use it for engine pulls. As the others have said, I don't think it will work with a standard picker. But, if you hoist from above and then roll the car out from under the motor it might work.

Hey Ryan,

I haven't pulled a motor with a 4-post lift, but I would think you would be lacking the "feel" of a engine hoist. No matter how many double and triple checks I have done, I have always seemed to miss 1 or 2 items. With the slow, steady power of the engine hoist I could identify it quickly that something wasn't unhooked before I did any damage.

Just a thought.
