Back when this thread was new i exchanged emails with the owner thinking i just might buy it, i like weird stuff,

But lack of info or willingness to provide details on important things like rust which can make a 5k project c3 a $500 parts car quick

Had me loose interest and i was told a local buyer had offered 5k back then,

So i assume it sold or is still sitting growing mold...sad

Default Hello

Its 1969 and I had forgot about it. Mr Batts told me he was broke and wanted it for nothing. its worth more than that and ill just let it sit its not bothering nothing I may put it back in the garage as room has opened up. Brakes are sticking as well as door latches and hood latches. It sits in Greenup Illinois. I hear there is a vette show next weekend I should take it though the car wash and take it over and see what offers i get for it. I really dont need it and think every so often about cleaning it up and listing on ebay. If you want to come see it 217-923-5577 im open to offers. I know jack about details. Im just not that guy. The interior looked new when i bought it but has craks in the leather now. Other than that pretty good. Paint looks good at 10 ft when shes clean but it has chips and such on close inspection. Tires are about rotted off and rims are rusted bad. Battery dead but not locked up or anything has a corvette 350 in it and the T Tops are good no leaks. thats all i know

Justs bats,
I do apologize,
Sorry my eccentric sense of humor threw you off, happens to me a lot,
My mind is a terrible thing to taste,

Im cheap everyone here knows that, if i said i was broke that wasnt accurate, well maybe it was that day, but i have funds for things i want,

You told me a local guy offered you i believe 5k and you thought it was worth more but say you know almost nothing about it,
i thought 5k was fair or high in the condition its in,
i had started asking around how much i could get it hauled home for, in case a deal happened,

Being im in eustis florida i cant pop over to check it out and like i told you and the sticky on this forum about buying a c3 validates,
a c3 if all rusty in bad shape can be worth very little, very quickly, in addition the kit on your car hurts or kills it for about 99% of the people wanting a vette, i just happen to like it,

at that time you didnt give me the impression you wanted to look into rust and take more pictures and go into details i would need to buy a car long distant,

You gave me the impression you didnt know what you wantrd to do with the car but didnt care about it anymore, thats reflected in the condition its in, yeah, makes me sad.

So i just tried to help a fellow car person.
I suggested washing it, putting it on craigslist and see what happens, if you ask this forum what its worth you might not like the replies,

i also said when i was trying to help you, "or just give it to me", lol, that was a joke, in relation to if you dont wanna fool with cleaning it up and listing it for sale, ill take it,

i was funning with you, because you dont like the car and i do, sorry my attempt at humor was lost and gave the wrong impression,

i didnt want it for nothing, you saod you had a 5k offer, that was more than its worth to me in the condition i know about and all i dont know, too much gamble not knowing,

the car will need a lot of time work and money dumped into it,

Since you had a local guy who was ready to buy i moved on,

I think you should have took his 5 k and be done with it,
like i suggested before why not wash it , clean it up and post it on cl and ebay, see what happens, Or let me have it, ;-)

Do something with it but dont let it just sit out in the weather and ruin to the point of being hauled to a dump, thats just heartbreaking,

Again, sorry my odd quirkiness threw you off, i do hope the car finds i loving home i still find it sweet and would have loved to have owned it,

Cheers,
B

Or later. Power mirrors were introduced for 1981, but that does not mean they are original for this car.

No big deal. I think you just misunderstood my desire to sell. Its still here because i dont have time to mess with it. I have several houses several cars boats bikes. I have a million things going on and not enough time in the day. This thing is pretty unique I get people asking about it all the time i just dont have time or i would have listed it on ebay already, not jumped through hoops to sell it for nothing. Thats why i posted my phone number. If someone happens across this and is coming to or lives in Illinois is interested they can come take a look themselves. Its a hassle to figure out what you need and then figure out how to get it and then get it to you. That might take all day where someone who really wants it can just come take a look. Your right i need to get it back in the garage. Its another hassle as Ive moved to a new house now and i rent the one its at. Id be interested in serious offers like in person cash in hand here let me take this hassle off your hands for you. Im a big guy 6'3" 350lbs. I know the chances of me getting back in this thing are slim.

I have no idea what to list it for sale for. Thats what brought me here. I have an appraisal thats 20 years old for over 20 thousand and as you can see its not worth that by far. It seems like $5000 sounds about right. I dont want to mess with it so Id say at this point $5000 obo. Cash in hand on site and Id make someone a good deal. The Title says 69 but i have been told the interior was upgraded during conversion. To what I dont know I can only post pictures. Guys I couldnt tell you what year a vette was from the outside let alone the inside. I wish i could tell you.

Many thanks,
Cheers

If the info in the old Hemmings story is accurate, it should be pretty easy to get some history on the Cooper Markette.

The article states that the Cooper Markette was built by Byron Cooper, of Knoxville TN. Byron is the owner of Coopers Corvette Center in Knoxville, and also the promoter of the Spring and Fall Corvette Expos. Anyone interested, should be able to reach Byron at 865-687-3976.

I understand,

And please understand,
I am just not in a position to buy a car in unknown condition, it might be an okay project or could be more rust than car we dont know,
i just cant gamble like that, some guys can and no doubt you will find your buyer, my loss i guess,

Cheers,
B

My guess is, the rear window was broken at some point, and a new curved rear glass was unobtanium.

I'd say the interior is from an 81. Power mirrors were only offered in 81-82, and the emblem in the horn button, is an 81 emblem.

Interestingly, the seller says the title says it's a 69. The marker lights are 69's, and the front bumpers appear to have been made by cutting up a 68-72 bumper. I'm guessing it was built up from the remnants of a couple old Corvettes.

Black spoked wheel, 81 FTW! That is one interesting car though.

If it only had fancy house lamps on the front fenders. It would be a cooler version of the car Duke drove around in the movie Escape from New York!
