my 78 with the VBP street salmon kit. 27 1/2" front 27 3/4" rear. But the rear is adjustable.
A old spring will give the symton that you discribe. Is there still a arc in the rear spring ?
Not much arch in the spring... Has some washers in the rear spring bolts ....The front is 29 1/2 .. Back is a little lower... I think someone has raised the front some how...
Don't measure from the fenders. That brings in tire size, wheels, body mount bushings, fiberglass, etc., into the equation.
Chevrolet specs a measurement in the rear that refers to the relative heights of the inner and outer bolts of the camber strut rod- typically about two inches.
To measure the ride height at the front, the spec requires you to measure the relative heights of the ball joint and the inner lower A arm bolt.
Rule of thumb is that the bottom of the frame should be parallel to the ground, and equal left and right, within a half inch or so..
Not meaning to hijack a topic, but last week i saw a 78 with a normal stance (back a bit higher than front and a nice small downwards slope back to front). But when the driver and passenger got into the car and they drove away the car leaned back a lot, and looked awful with the nose pointing to the sun. I estimate the back sunk at least 3 - 4 inches under the weight of two moderate persons. This can't be right, can it? Is this normal or a typical worn out leaf spring?
My. 81 had a rear fiberglass mono spring that was de laminating on the left... So every time I got in it or stepped on the skinny pedal it would sink low left in the rear... Bought a new leaf and planning to install today... Should cure my issues... Ride height in the rear is adjustable by the two bolts at the end of the spring... I would expect a drastic drop of 3-4 inches to be a little extreme... Could also be blown shocks?
