I belong to a cruiser club (AMMY) 4 of us were going to a cruise when a couple of young ladies in a newer Vette gave me the wave. Boy did I get razzed about leaving my DW at home. I guess when when you wrap a C3 around an old man it makes him look better.
From: Carolina raised but in Loveland CO for tha duration
I have an 08 and a 68, and the 68 gets *way* more attention. No comparison.

The next day, I drove my 69 and parked in the same stall as the day before. Later in the day, one of the high school kids approached me and asked if I owned the Corvette parked outside. I said, yes, but it is the older one and your Spanish teacher drives the 2006. Yeah, but yours is much cooler. I told him not to say that to his teacher until the grading period was over.
Made my day. I agree, side-by-side, the 69 does look more cool than the 2006.
I got a feel good moment today. I took my car in to get painted by an old HS buddy and his helper (which they will start tomorrow). His helper told me that anything after a C3 ("that body style" were her exact words), aren't really Corvettes in her opinion and that she was really excited to start getting to work on her. All of my hard work was noticeable and after paint, she's definitely a "trophy winning car".....We'll see on the 21st, and on July 5th!
Keep in mind, this is what my car looks like right now:
Apparently the younger generation doesn't understand the pain and misery of buying a '68 that was stored in the weeds...LOL!
I was at the parts store when the salesperson asked for the vehicle info.....her eyes literally watered up and she stopped putting info into the parts-computer when I said " "68 Corvette convertible".......she probably rode in one as a kid!
Then the clerk about 10 feet away asked her "WHAT did he say?".
(They don't know that it still looks like this... ...)
