Wow, obviously brown went out with the 70's. What's kinda funny though, is the brown's are reappearing in some of the newer cars.

I designed them to let out the hot air. I have attached tape while driving and they do let the heat escape. They also work well when the car is sitting, after driving, as there's no escape for the engine heat, except through those vents.
I had them cut out with a waterjet and designed them to clear the structural part of the hood as well. It was tricky! But I still like how they look!
