Anybody know of a good source for leather material to match an '81 camel interior. I'm not looking for a full hide, just enough to cover a piece I'm building for the rear to house speakers and a new head unit. Thnaks for any help or info offered.
I called Corvette America about this and they asked me to give them a measurement to place the order. Have not done it yet but I am thinking about the same thing.
There is a guy in Peabody Ma, his name is Mark, his family owns a tannery / leather company of some type, but he is heavy into cars and on the side has sold a ton of leather to car guys for doing interiors that are the right color, thickness etc. I don't have his number but he often sells parts on Craigslist Boston, based out of Middleton MA. I think he has an ad on craigs now for Z28 5 spoke steel 1970 wheels. I don't know him too personally, but tuned his car before and got to know him a little, met others that know him and he has a good reputation in the local car scene. He has a Greek last name, maybe that will help you narrow it down if searching Google, but I would try the ads on craigs.
They might have a store in your town. You can buy the matching leather dye from a number of vendors or take it to an upholstery shop and get it dyed to match.
Depending on how big a piece you need, you can get bags of scrap leather at craft stores like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. You might get lucky for 3 or 4 bucks.
