Default Crate Engine Supplier Choice help.

I'll be looking to buy a small block crate engine this week or next since the body is at the body shop. I would like something with a great street performance and sound to go with my Sidepipes. I definitely need plenty of Vaccumm to run my headlights and power brakes. I'm currently thinking about spending about $4500.00 to $5000.00. Is that a realistic figure? Are the blueprint engines a good buy from Summit Racing? I notice they are way cheaper than the Chevrolet performance from the same supplier. Any Ideas from previous buyers will help me making the right choice. thanks

I haven't bought one yet but you will find many happy users of blueprint engines out there. There are several of them here on this forum too I believe. I recommend doing a search and see what you come up with.

Take a look at MrJlr's recent post '18 mpg 432hp blueprint 383'. There are some really positive comments there about the Bluerprint engines. I bought the Blueprint BP38313CT1 a while ago but haven't installed it yet. Pretty glad I did though as I have only heard good things about them. Can't wait to get it going. Pretty good value for what you get. Good luck with your purchase!

I purchased a 454 crate engine from Carolina Machine Engines. The motor came with everything I needed to install. They offer a 3-year warranty and this engine has been running great for 5 years now. Total cost was $4,800 and what I really like is they used a70 block that gives me a stock apperance. They also worked on my stock intake manifold so I had no hood issues. The engine was dyno's at 425 hp with 515 lbs of torque. Compression is 9.25/1. There is also plenty of vacuum for everything to work.
