Default Diff question+++++++

Hey Guys; have a strange question on my 73 vert diff. The codes on the diff do not match up with the normal codes in my manuals. I have removed the spare tire tub to get a better view and this is all I can see.
At the top of the cover it reads "GM 7"
On the right side of the cover reading from the bottom up it reads "K 8 0" or "K 3 0.
On the bottom where the codes should be it reads "A64910"
or "464910
Some of these numbers on the bottom cover seem to have been sheared off so only the upper two-thirds of the numbers appear.
I have done the wheel spin and counted the driveshaft revs and it comes out to 3.70 gears. I am curious as to what is going on with the numbers. Thanks

I don't think that the code is on the cover. It's on the housing.

It can be seen on the bottom (I.e. looking up at it from a creeper)

73 differential codes are all two character alpha. You're looking for AA, AB, AC, AW, AX, or LR. There will also be a date, the plant code, and possibly a shift code.

You guys are freaking awesome ! I misread my manual and have been looking in the wrong place, Duh. I found the codes and they are
AB (3.70 gears which I had verified earlier by the wheel spin method).
W ( Warren Plant)
106 (Works out to April 16th which predates my cars build date of May).
E ( Evening shift ?)
1 (First shift being evening ?)

I am not sure if this reply gets to all who responded, thanks to all. Pics about my car are forth coming.
