Was nosing around under the hood of my 78 looking for the horn relay (found it under the dash) when I happened on this horn looking thing close to the cruise control mechanism and behind the left fender. What is this? Also bubba has been at work again. Where do these vacuum controls for the headlight doors mount. Someone has them zip tied to what ever is handy. I have an assembly manual and tried to find it but had no luck.
The headlight vacuum relays, were originally bolted to the front surround reinforcement bar. This is the stamped steel bar, that's bonded to the underside of the nose, just behind the headlights. They may have been left hanging, because it can be tough to work under there, to bolt them back into place. There's also the possibility, that the reinforcement bar is rusted out (a common problem), and they couldn't be bolted back in.
My mind isn't working at 100% right now, but I think that horn is the one for the factory alarm. Earlier cars, had a trumpet style horn, tucked up inside the left rear fender, and 81-82's, used the regular car horns for the alarm. If I remember right, 77-80 Corvettes, had that horn under hood, for the alarm.
