1970 Corvette Opinions Needed
In 1970, I bought a show room fresh 69 Coupe BB with the 3X2 carburetors...it was the 430 HP engine. I later discovered it had been in an accident...the right rear frame was slightly bent. The rear transverse spring was bent. Amazingly there was no evidence of a body repair other than I did find some polishing powder in crevices....a masterpiece of a disguised repair.
In 1973, I bought my 68. It was obvious that it had a poor quality front end repair. The hood did not match the body. The interior was like new, and the price was cheap. I bought it expecting to pay the repair on the front end. Unfortunately...opps fortunately, I was rear ended by someone going 1.00 mph. The rear end of the car literally fell off..it was a bondo sculpture piece with much of the bondo applied right over the original paint...that's why it fell off. Insurance helped here and I had a very professional repair, supplanting insurance money with my own.
In 1992, I bought my 1970 Corvette. It was a high mileage car. There was a hint of body repair at the front quarter panel underneath the front bumper. I's since found out that the car has experienced a severe front end collision. The right front of the car is another bondo sculpture piece. The collision extended back to the the brackets in the windshield wiper door. They were broken. The front left and right of the front has been reconstructed from pieces of the original fiberglass and gross bondo sculpturing.
I've bought three used corvettes and have gotten skunked on two of them. The count would be three if insurance hadn't helped me out on the third.
My fourth Corvette was purchased new. No hidden issues.

Be careful buying a used corvette...(1) check for frame and birdcage rust, (2) really look for damage..need someone who can really pick out body repair by a sophisticated repair shop. (3) If body repair, and even if it's sophisticated...look for more body damage than meets the eye. (4) and that cherry 69 Vette I bought...the only immediate clue would have been a slightly bent frame.
The only manifestation of the slightly bent frame was that if I slammed on the brakes, the car would get sideways. I kept getting wheel alignments...didn't really know the problem...to no avail. Finally, I took the car to Dick Guildstrand's Motorposts..this was 1974. I told him of the problem..he took the car out to an unused portion of hte Marina Del Rey Freeway, cranked it up to 75 mph and slammed on the brakes..his comment..yep, it gets sideways. The bent frame was detected by measuring the weight on each wheel. The rear right wheel registered about 400 (?) lbs less weight than the other wheels...lack of weight on the right rear wheel was why it kept getting sideways.

RH front grille looks to have been replaced, and ask if the shoulder belts are behind the extensions in back.
Obviously the other comments too--frame/birdcage/radiator support rust.
You have to see in person and drive...pictures can't give you the true feel for the car and how it runs, drives, and brakes.
