Power tour
Still finishing up last minute things. The plan is to hook up with the power tour in Bettendorf and travel to the dells the next day.
Got a couple of power outlets installed for phones and such. The interior is pretty well done except the kick panels.
I am still struggling to get the t tops to work right. Well actually when I got the car it had masking tape for weather stripping so the new stuff is thicker. Trying to work out the shims for that. I got them in but the new rubber squeaks like crazy. I noticed on a picture that somebody posted here that there is a small triangle that sticks out of the small chrome piece on the back pillar. I don't have that and can't get it in time. I assume it lines up the back, but wonder if it holds it more secure so it does not slide and would help reduce the squeaks. I am looking for ways to treat the rubber so it does not grab and squeek all the time.
Anyway, things look good and am looking forward to the experience.
Hey Brent, looks great. I like the idea of the power outlets, where did you stuff the inverter?
As for the T tops, I've had those chrome triangle things on and off trying to figure out some squeaking issues, they had no effect either way so I don't think that is your problem. It could be that you need to tighten them down a bit more and possibly take some shims out but don't take my word for it, I've adjusted mine 3 times and still don't have them 100% where I want them - they are a pain to get right for sure

I should have been more clear about the power outlets. When this car was built they were called "cigarette lighters". They are at the passengers feet in case we need to charge a phone and have a gps running also.
Thanks for the hint on the triangle things. I think the squeaks and the difficulty I have putting the tops come from the same place. I can't get the tops on unless I loosen the pegs that lock into the middle of the t top. The gasket is clearing, but I think it is binding. Then once installed I think the rubber is gripping the car and squeezing as it moves a bit. I tried wax on the car parts, but I thnk I need to get the rubber to grab less.

Can you take pictures of the pegs and where they bolt to the T tops (while the tops are on the car), I'm wondering if you don't need some shims there...
I'd like to put an inverter in for house current power, I had it in an 04 Jeep Rubicon I had, came in handy on occasion

The pegs I was speaking of are on the inside edge of the tops held by three bolts. They definitely needed more shims since the rubber is new. Didn't have enough so there are washers there now, but don't tell anybody. I was at a buddies house and had to take one of the tops off. I could not get it back on, but with a little bit of spit on the chrome, it let the rubber slide over it. Again, don't tell anyone about that either.

Try a little bit of rubber grease, it's basically liquid soap, should allow the rubbers to slide
and not squeak or glycerine. The glycerine should help with sealing as well.
