Default 1969 Corvette - Ignition switch

With ignition key switch set to "on" the battery current is approx 13-14 amps. Is this correct? Thanks Ed frye

wild guess ..... you mean Volts instead of "amps" ?
Yes a fully charged battery should show app. 14 volts.

No, I mean amps. I'm guessing there are some circuits that are active automatically. Thanks Ed

Battery current readings:

IGN sw OFF or ACC = 0.02 amps

IGN sw ON = 12.3 amps (nothing else on)

Additional Info:

Parking/running lights ON = 5.66 amps
Headlights Low Beam ON = 13 amps

Is the IGN sw ON current normal for this vehicle ?

If not, any suggestions on trouble shooting this problem would be appreciated.

Thanks, ED

Ignition on, engine running or not?
This may be a normal value when running, but i can't say for sure. If not running, then you are bleeding to ground someplace.
What kind of ignition do you have? Stock points?
There is (stock) a resistance wire in series going to the coil.
Electric fuel pump?
Start pulling fuses to see where to start.
I remember back in the day, it was said to always put the key in the acc position when the engine was off and you were just sitting and using the radio, because, in the on/run position you could have current flow through the points if they closed.
