Default 1979 restoration

Actually this was not a total restoration, it was more or less nice one winter fix for very decent car.

Short history is that this car has been sold 1979 to state of New York and first owner moved to California 1981 with car. Second owner also from California bought car 2004 and he sold it to me at end of year 2012. I got it in container to Finland/Europe at spring of 2013 and drove it one summer. Last winter car got light restoration. Idea was save as much original as possible. It got new paint, old original was destroyed hot California sun and same reason also it needed new interior. I also did some other little things here and there.

Anyway, now it is in nice condition and good summer driver for my wife.

Here you can find before-, project- and after pictures.

And some teaser pictures from my web page.

Paint looks much better than it was.

In container.

Corvette and my colleagues Opel GT

Waiting for paint.

Interior work

Ready at last and in local show.

Paint is very well done, thank you for very professional paint job Limingan Automaalaamo :-)

Great job. Very impressive. I am sure that your wife appreciates it. I am curious what you did with the radio 2012-2014?

Very nice. I like the Opel GT as well, had one way back when I was in my 20's.

Yes, a blast from the past. I learned to drive on a used Opel when I was 17, many, many years ago. Didn't last long, caught on fire and burned to a crisp. I survived, the car didn't.

The hood striping is very nice...that color combination really stands out! (Is your car black or dark blue?)....

It is black. I had several ideas for the colors of stripe, but these colors came from badges of the grille.

Thank you, it is nice little car and my wife likes it although it is manual trans. Yes, she has driven 16 years manual trans daily driver before we bought automatic trans daily driver :-)

Did you mean that Alpine? It is another colleague Mercedes - Benz 190.

I'm surprised at how such a little bit of striping can be so striking.
