Default 72 rearview mirror

silly question time...
the rearview mirror has the day/night lever on the bottom,
which way is it suppose to face for day time?
towards the driver (as shown) or towards the passenger?

random internet image, sorry for the large size

i know it just tilts the mirror, but is there a right way?
the glove box manual doesn't say either.

I can't remember if the lever goes right or left but when the mirror is tipped up it's in the nite mode and down is in the day mode

Position the mirror where you want it. Flip the lever. If you have to re-position the mirror down by hand to get the clear image, then the first position of the lever is day. If you have to re-position it up to get the clear image, then the first position was night.

Unless of course you're on the other side of the world, in which case you have to put the car on its roof first.
