Isn't it also missing the pull straps on the door panels? Did the '68s not have a crossed flag emblem on the nose? Also, looks like the antenna is broken off. Edit: nevermind, I saw that the missing antenna piece is laying behind the seats.

1968 didn't have door straps. The door grab was built into the door panel.

That's interesting, I never knew that. '68s are full of one-year-only pieces and parts. Maybe on that car, the straps have been pulled loose? You can see where the holes for the straps are in the door panel. Or maybe it's had '69 door panels put on it?

Guy from work bought a '68 off of Craigslist 7 weeks ago. He paid $6000.00. The car was all original and a runner. I was amazed until I saw the car for the first time last week. The frame and bird cage are solid; good bones to work off of. But the rest of the car... well, like I said he paid $6000.00. Just looking at it, I guesstimate he needs to spend at least $15,000.00 even without lifting the body. But he has a passion for the car so I'm hoping for the best. The '68 is a beautiful car when it's all shiny and new.

The door pulls were added later in production. I have an August built 68 with the door pulls. Early 68's did not have them

Default They beat me up

I was just informed, "rudely", that a 1968 Stingray does not exist. I have one also...well, I guess not because they DO NOT exist, according to the experts on this site. I'm trying to figure out how to cancel and remove my post. I don't understand why you have received helpful posts, and I was laughed at. Is it because I have a vagina???

What are you talking about??

True the 68 was not labeled a Stringray, who cares! It's still a corvette.

I know, because the Chevrolet sales literature all called it a 1968 Corvette Sting Ray.

Two words, not one. Pretty unique among the late model generation.

I still have a fondness for '68's after all these years.
It had some issues..but don't they all?

Some posters are sticklers for accuracy. I doubt it was meant to be anything personal. Don't let it discourage you, keep posting, that's what makes this forum work.

I have to read these posts all the way through before responding.

Nah, half of them act like they have one, the other half all want one, and most haven't seen one in decades.

You will get a lot more attention with one. And several will volunteer to help you build your car.

Now before this goes Not Safe for Work and gets kicked into PRC, I'll just say you will find a lot of help here, if you go with the flow. Too many worry about details, but then in some things, details matter. Since you were talking restoring, then details matter, and restored means just like the factory built it, no better, no worse, and definitely not different.

Most like to think they are restoring, but most really just want a nice good looking, reliable, good running Corvette. And that is a lot cheaper than restoring.

Welcome to the '68 Club.

Yep. They're actual grab handles (Camaro used them too).
Stock panel early. Fingertip grip only.

Stock panel late. Fingertip grip still there. Grab handle added.

IIRC, there are actually three versions of this. I don't remember which is the right sequence.

1. Fingergrip in shoulder area.
2. Reinforced fingergrip in shoulder area
3. Reinforced fingergrip in shoulder area with grab handle

or

1. Fingergrip in shoulder area.
2. Grab handle with no fingergrip in shoulder area
3. Reinforced fingergrip in shoulder area with grab handle

Of course, I just drove home for an hour and a half top down for the 14th Annual DYCTW Day so my brain is baked and I may have this all warped to some bizzare idea.

Now that I see the 68 door handles I like Em never seen Em. Just wondering would they fit a 69 to 76/7 c3. Not hijack the thread but wondering. Some of the outside features on c3 the I like, like the door popper keyhole things
