Anyone know what type of Freon is used in a completely stock 1979 L82?

"Freon" is a brand name like Kleenex or Q tip its R12, still in use in 79 good luck now. But there still is some floating around.

R-12 is what came in it.

30 years later? There are identifiers out there but what I've seen they are pricey.

Make sure the car still has R12 and not R134. The fitting are different, so if someone changed the freon to R134, R12 gauges wont hook up.

I been with a cut/spliced set of hoses on my R12 gauges for decades now, and regularly put 134 into either fitting setup, makes no diff to the freon or car.....

GOD I"m lazy....and cheeeeeeeep too!!!!!
