Default 1980, 1981, and 1982

I really like the body style of the 1980-1982 but what are the differences between the years. I would like to know everything before buying one. Thank you.

1981 Was the first year for the composite rear spring, which is a nice weight saving feature.

As said above, 81 was also the first year for the CCC (Computer Command Control) or ECM as commonly called these days. It was a primitive unit that had inputs from the O2 sensor, temp sensor (and probably others) and controlled the spark timing and torque converter lockup. Check to see if this is still installed and functioning. If motor was replaced, chances are the CCC was removed (what I did).

All 80 - 82's had similar bodies. Had integral front spoiler and rear spoiler. Nice looking cars!

The 82's were the only year for the 'Cross-Fire Injection' system, which was a primitive fuel injection system (from what I have heard).

These three years are basically the same, out of the factory they were very heavy and don't go but they're nice looking

Heavy as compared to what? The curb weight of a 81 is less than a 74

82's are luv em or hate em.
Some are really sweet cars in their eyes.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3s-...11k-miles.html
Then there are the Coll. Ed. that get all the publicity.
That blue one is more unique than any col.ed. in my eyes. All 82 slow as he!!.
Wanna go fast buy a C5>82. 81- Computer aided carb. 80- All 12volts & vacuum. 4spd.
Chrome bumper guys may look @ you as dirt, yours are rubber.
If you can pick 80-82; wax it; go get another beer & then look at it again & SMILE,
Isn't that what it's all about?
My C5 modded can wax the floor w/ that blue C3. A C7 Z06 can wax the floor w/my C5. But pullin up in that unique C3 can get the same looks as that C7. Or a pretty 80 too.
GL!
(I think 80-82 is cool. that's just me)

82 is the last year that you can get a factory cassette player.the over drive tranny and fuel injection is great for fuel economy.good ride because of the glass rear spring .you cant get one with a four speed manual, but you can put one in.If you want to mod it out stay with 1980 a nice driver 81 or 82.What ever you can get a deal on it can be changed to meet your wants or needs.

Tryin to keep it stock cept for very minor upgrades as needed. Modern fuelpump, tranny up grade when needed, etc.

Tryin to damage rear gears to go to 355. Easierto sell ma on em.

Only interior difference was in guages. 80 has a clock in center guages and 81 & 82 had a oil temp guage instead of clock in center gluster.

There were no real big differences in 80 to 82. Buy what you want!

I think most of us would like to "know everything."
This is good:

Any of the Corvette coffee table history books will include the 80-82s.

1980: Similar drivetrain system to earlier C3 cars.
1981: One-year-only engine management system; unique distributor, carb, ECM and wiring harness. Works well....if it works; if it doesn't work, it's a PITA to fix.
1982: First year for CrossFire engine (also in 1984, C4 car). Two throttle-body injectors and OBD I engine management system. Also, first year for 700-R4 overdrive transmission.
