I took the '79 out for a ride yesterday, hadn't driven it in a while. Stopped by my buddy's shop on the way home to visit. Got to talking with a guy that had a '80 California Corvette that a tree had fallen on. He wanted $800-$900 for it. He said the interior was screwed because the tree had broken the glass and it had gotten soaked but, all the body panels and t-tops were good. I know the California models had the 5.0 engine so I don't really have a need for the motor. I haven't seen the car yet but, is it worth the $800-$900 just for the miscellaneous parts I could pull and stash for later use? What parts are compatible with my '79 I am sure quite a few/most are? Also I have a friend that wants to build up a SB for a airboat and he said he might be interested in splitting the cost of the car for the motor. Just looking for some input.
The cars are very similar but have some subtle differences that make an 80 parts car not so desirable as a parts car for a 79. California cars had computer controlled 305's, a different rear differential setup make the frames different, different body parts such as the nose and tail, etc. You could part it out and make money on it if you are so inclined.

Thanks for the reply
I will probably still go take a look at it but, it seems there is a lot of stuff that is incompatible so I will probably pass on it.
