Default 69 Steering column question

Hi, I'm looking for a tilt column for my 69. I'm told 69-75 would fit.

Anyone have any experience trying to put a later one in?

I found a 78 tilt telescoping for a very good price but just don't know if it would fit.

All you ever wanted to know about putting a 1977 thru 1982 T&T column into an early (1969-1976) Vette.

Thank you Jim. This is awesome. Will my stock steering wheel fit on the T&T column as well?

Now.....now......read the fact sheets...anything that isn't in there---I'm betting that Mr. Jim would be glad to answer.

If you can purchase the 1978 T&T column with all the hardware shown below, you will be many dollars ahead.

This blowup pic shows the 1977+ leather wrapped steering wheel that was used on all the later 1977+ T&T C3 columns. It also shows the telescope lock, horn cap, and steering wheel adapter for those later T&T columns. But your original thin rim steering wheel should bolt right in place of the leather wrapped wheel on a 1978 T&T. This will provide a somewhat close appearance to a 1969 T&T.

Hope I was able to properly describe the swapping of parts. Saginaw manufactured the actual steering column (right up to the toothed locking plate.) Chevrolet supplied the steering wheel and all the other stuff showing in the blowup above.

That is why when people say they purchased such and such steering column, I am never really sure if they are purchasing a steering column alone or a steering column and all the necessary horn, telescope lock, steering wheel, adapter, etc.
