Default Interior Help

Help! I have been restoring my 68 Coupe for the past three years and its time to focus on the interior. I have gutted it and removed everything. As some of you have done this before, I am having a problem getting all the old crappy insulation out of the car where it was glued in. What's the trick? I tried a heat gun, acetone (not much and only in a test area), and elbow grease, but that crap is still noticeable. How does it get removed?
I was thinking, and this is the scary part, of getting as much out as possible, vacum it, clean it as much as possible, and putting down a coat or two of Lizzard skin sound deadener/insulation over the top of it. Then putting down a layer of dynomat insulation on top of that. I was thinking of just the lizzard skin alone inside the door panels as somehow I picture that coming off and never getting the windows to roll down again.
What has been the best experience for some of you guys who have done interiors? What would you do different?
Thanks in advance.

Just use a putty knife or scraper to chop off as much as you can. You will be able to get all but what was actually glued down. Then put sound deadener and heat insulation on top.

I'm not sure why the aftermarket doesn't sell the [tar?] impregnated cardboard sound deadener that the factories used. It was effective and inexpensive. Maybe that last part is why it is no longer sold.

Scrape the big stuff best you can then get a wire wheel on your drill and finish it off. I had to do the same thing and needed the floorpan clean enough for the Stinger Roadkill to stick. The wire wheel will indeed do.it.

I used some kind of solvent like Goof Off or similar. Scrape, wire brush, spray, repeat and repeat. It is a PITA job but it will clean up pretty well. I just finished putting Dynamat Extreme over my floors in my '68. I have the center console and center dash in along with the top dash pad. When you get to that center gage and front console it can be a challenge. Ooops didn't mean to jump so far ahead of myself. Anyhow after using the Goof Off you clean with soap and water which is what mine needed anyhow. It was really filthy.
