My dash is only a couple of years old and I have noticed it is starting to buckle around the edge where the speaker holes are. I know it gets hot in the car sometimes especially here in Florida but this has surprised me. It is suppose to be a top quality dash, bought from a sponsoring vendor.
Any way, does anyone have any ideas as to how to reform this area. It is about the size of a egg. Don't know if I need to remove it and heat the area and try to reform then cool it real fast or what. All ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
Don't have any knowledge of the specific problem, but if your car sits in the sun very much, you probably should purchase a "carpet cover" for the dash. These things eliminate the heating effects on the suface of the dash, and they don't look too bad. For shows, etc, you can just remove it. But, having one WILL save your dash pad.
P.S. You do still have the speaker support frames in place, don't you?
Thanks 7T1 for your response. Dash carpet is a good idea and there were no speakers in the dash when I got the car. I probably should have ordered a dash without the speaker grill built in it. I believe I will take the top dash out and try to reheat it back into shape then cool it down quickly. It's not a very large area, like I said about the size of an egg. I was really just curious if anyone has had this problem and what remedy they tried.
