Default 1971 engine value?

Hi, I just purchased a 1971 complete corvette and will be parting it out sometime in the future. My question is there any value in the original 350/270 engine to another 71 owner or is it just a typical old 350 engine. Thanks

What color is the car? I interested in some things if you are willing to start piecing it out.

Surely the engine has some value, especially the date of the block and the rest of the date specific original parts. Complete engine maybe $1500-$2000. Just my guess to the guy that needs the dates.

The car was originally 989 war bonnet yellow with 423 dark green interior. The car is now green.

Well...it might be old, but I'm not sure I would call a 71 Corvette base engine "typical".

The value of the various Corvette-specific items bolted to the engine would be of more value than the engine itself. The block (if cleaned and magged to assure that it has no cracking), intake, and exhaust manifolds might be worth a little money to someone who needed those specific pieces; but the rest of the internals would be of little value. To someone just looking for a CSB engine, the engine-complete might be worth a few hundred, if it was in running condition.

The only way to know would be to put that stuff up for sale (eBay, Craig's List, etc) and sell it.

usually cost more to ship than what it is worth....

it would be like a 'vette engine' ( these words make some go gaga ) put in a car with the wrong engine code and wrong VIN derivitive on it..

as stated it is a used engine and a buyer would be getting 40+ year old parts..

Thanks for the replies. I was told by the previous owner it had a recent rebuild and I am going to try and get it started in the next week. If it runs ok and has no issues I will get the date codes and see if anyone here needs it for a restoration. The car has a January 1971 build date. Thanks.
