Looking for some suggestions.. I have a 79 with a SB that should have the aluminum lower alternator bracket. When I bought the car it came with the earlier cast iron alternator bracket. This bracket darn near lays right on the cap of the power steering pump. Close enough so that I can't get the cap off the power steering pump to even check the level. I checked with folks in the corvette club that have the alum. bracket and it gives the needed clearance. Of course they say "look you have the wrong bracket you need the alum one". Trouble being, up to this point I can't find an alum lower bracket.
Is there an aftermarket bracket that I can use or must I just keep searching for an alum. bracket.
Found one on ebay and bought it.. When I got it, it had been broke and welded so I returned it. Should have kept it, as I'm sure it would have been fine. The gentleman I bought it from sold it after I returned it. I've been checking ebay weekly. I may have found one in Calif., I'll give them a call tomorrow.
Thank you for the reply, I appreciate you taking the time.
If you're going with the 80-82 style lower bracket you'll need the shorter upper swing arm bracket too.
I got one for postage only, let me know.
Looks like I have a complete set up coming. Lower bracket, upper arm, bolts, etc.. He wasn't sure if the arm was the short or long, but should be here by the end of the week. If it's not the correct short arm, I'll take you up on that offer.
