It's unfortunate the negativity that spews about here when a "kid" shows up with interest in a C3.

I hope you buy it and can fix it up. Best of luck.

I remember back in the 60's there was a rumor going around that there was a 63 Sting Ray for sale for a few hundred dollars because someone had died in it and they didn't find the body right away and they couldn't get the smell out of it. You wouldn't believe how many kids talked about that mystery car and tried to find out where it was. Sounds like a similar story .

Yeah I hate to say it but I guess we can assume we are not getting pictures, so IMO…party's over boys. Nothing to see here. Unless…the pictures are submitted.

Mythbusters even tested that rumor, they couldn't afford a C2 so they bought a C4 and put pigs in it. Left it for months, and they were able to still sell it for a profit if I remember correctly. One of the coolest episodes, but sad they trashed a C4.

Very true. However, sometimes people show up with a question, one that causes fun controversy, and then never signs back on to absorb all of the information this community has to offer. Tough line to draw but if this young man doesn't come back soon, he's either too interested in chasing skirts or is too busy laughing about getting a bunch of online forum members all jazzed up over nothing.
Agreed there is negativity. Just not sure it's misplaced until the young fellow signs back on to rebut…and it would seem as though nobody can afford to hold their breath for that long.

…well in this day and age, it is hard not to be on a computer or electronic with internet connection. Heck even my printer allows me to search thee internet. It has games, music, printing of course, and a lot of other junk. I like it as I can print anywhere in house and it will even print double sided without touching it. Cool, but if my printer can let me search the web, surely anyone can. I have been web surfing since about '96 or '97. So with all of the technology, it just makes it hard to believe that someone can't post pictures of their own, even if they are crappy, and log on. Now, like we all know, we all get tied down and busy. He very well may be busy. I still have faith in the guy, but until legit pictures surface, I am moving on. I really want to see this car, I own an orange '72. It is killing me waiting for pictures…but who knows how long that will be. So I am just going to try to forget about it until then.

That was a very interesting episode for sure! They tried every cleaning product they could find, hired a professional service and even completely stripped the interior and still couldn't remove the smell. They finally sold it as a parts car to a guy that admitted he only wanted the L98 and the rear end!

I disagree. Or, he's been chased away. He was greeted with negativity from reply #1. I'd rather foster a possible growing C3 enthusiast and get laughed at than ridicule him for reaching out.

I agree with you 100% about anything negative that comes out right off the bat. Scaring away a young potential vette hobbyist is never good, really do hope he signs back on and is able to post pics.
Unfortunately, not sure if that's going to happen. You never know.

Sorry, have to disagree. If the OP was genuinely interested in researching, learning and acquiring information about the C3's, he'd have a far more honest approach, stating exactly that. And he would've got a lot of positive responses.

Instead, he pretended to know of some mysterious early C3 Corvette parked in a driveway, that he couldn't ever post pics of, despite that even a five year old, now has a cell phone that's capable of taking a pic. His other car, (what he would've REALLY wanted to have) was a cut-and-paste photo out of somewhere else, not his, so of course, we're going to treat it negatively, because none of it was true.

We found him out and never heard from him again, despite promises to the contrary. That'd be like me, going on the Antique boat forum, claiming I found a rare mahogany Riva in a barn somewhere and then leading on the forum members for information, but unable to provide a single pic.

Then telling them, I hate Italian boats in general, but I do own a 35 foot, twin engine, retired offshore racer, but no pics again. It's dishonest and deceptive to claim something, that's not there or a situation that doesn't exist. If you want to encourage anything, call out the BS, or you're just playing the game, as a fool and pretty soon, you're giving him restoration advice, valuation, what to look for and on and on.

I'm having a hard time understanding what you're gaining by calling "BS" on someone's claim. You haven't "found him out" or proved anything here other than negativity is unwelcoming.

I tend to stay away from these threads, but this one was a bit disheartening from the get go.

Anyways I'm just a teenager that loves both classic cars and modern cars and hope to own many cars as I grow older, but my real passion is modern and especially classic Italian and German cars and also love Japanese 70s & 90s sports cars, sorry guys but I hate american cars if you exclude classic corvettes and mustang fastbacks.

How my current car looks like (NOT my exact car, the same model off of google images)

Three days later, no pics, no responses and being from the LA area, I know that there's NO WAY, that an early C3, would be sitting in a driveway, anywhere here in LA County, without the 'Old Man' getting daily knocks on his door, notes on the car and anything else, to get his attention. Maybe in some backwoods town in Alabama, hidden from view by the trees, but not here. Most of the hoarders do their best, to hide their valuable cars, locking them up in the garage, or putting them in the back yards, so they won't get harassed by buyers, scrap yard dealers and curious 16 year olds.

Nothing personal, but I've (and many others in this thread) have got to call BS on it. Nothing negative either. These days it's put up or shut up and he failed that test. If he's reading this, please prove me wrong, but it's been nearly a week and we ain't seen a single pic yet of anything.

Pete, I've got no beef with you whatsoever, but a kid coming on here, with some kind of tantalizing tall tale, promising pics, but not seeming to follow through, then abandoning the thread is total BS. I've got local knowledge of the area, too, so it's not 'making me happy', it's calling it to be what I see it is: BS.

We can agree to disagree, but the vast majority of us here, don't want to be led by the nose, by somebody claiming something and unable days and days later, to back it up with simple proof, that's all. Pics are easy. And I saw nothing negative, except the BS calls and that's a natural response. Nobody called him a liar, a phony, a fraud, shyster or threatened him, we were excited and wanted to see the pics and when he didn't provide them (and worse, showed his OWN car, as a 'Google Image), that just reinforced the notion of a BS thread.

Peace and out, lunch time here!

I was hoping for the kid to be one of the lucky few and find a diamond in the rough and I sat idly waiting for pics and then I get this euro g37 and still no pics of barn find. I don't wish him a bad vibe or voodoo. I just really wanted to see the kid and his 68-73 vette with wrench in hand but have yet to see him deliver on his part I stay in LA and I woulda marveled at the fact he was able to come by such a vehicle and at that price. Im still hoping he signs on and puts us on blast by posting pics of him with the car and and pushing to his house.
